I suffer from a condition which I am sure is familiar to many crafters. I like to call it ‘Pinterestitis’. I fill my Pinterest boards with beautiful seasonal based craft projects and then get massively overwhelmed and have a cup of tea instead. As valentines day approaches my symptoms have been flaring up. This year, I have vowed to spend less time procrastinating and more time crafting. Therefore, I am setting myself a challange. To make use of the beautiful patterns fellow crafters generously share online and make one heart based crochet project a week over the next six weeks in the run up to Valentine’s day.
The first picture which caught my eye on pinterest was for a ‘String of Hearts’ shared by Esther Chandler from her wonderful blog Make My Day Creative.
I have to warn you making these little strings can be quite addictive. They work up quickly and therefore are very satisfying to people with short attention spans like myself. They can be made in a rainbow of colours and are perfect to add a little colour to any valentines day present.
Really cute, right?
They are also fabulously versatile. Here are a couple of ideas I have come up with for mine.
They would make a lovely head band or clip decoration.
These have been used to decorate a jar of my home made salt scrub.
This is my favourite, and where my little string hearts are going to remain until valentines day.
Esther Chandler at Make my Day Creative who developed this pattern has a lot of great ideas for the use of these hearts.
What would you do with them? Why don’t you comment and let me know.
